‘Ello ladles and jellyspoons! I know it’s been a while (______________) *insert excuse here* But between closing my small business, liquidating everything, moving trucks loads of stuff, prepping to teach a course at my local community college this fall and diving into rebuilding my garage life has been hectic. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been watching the market. Double Masters is AMAZING! I’m pumped for some rock bottom prices *cough* *currently looking at 24.73$ copies of Dark Confidant* *cough*. We’ve got controversial political “stuff” going on, civil rights tension, face mask drama, and an atomic bomb level surprise B&R announcement this past Monday. With that; LET’S GO!

Batterskull [Borderless] Double Masters up 433% now 99.99$ from 18.75$

Take this price with a grain of salt because these are pre-order prices. This version of Batterskull very well should have naturally been 100$ from the start but vendors decided to feel things out way to low. The algorithm doesn’t know any better, spots an 80$ increase, and behold: a 433% increase…

Splinter Twin from Rise of the Eldrazi spiked 196% a few weeks back reaching 21.46$ from 10.91$

This was due to speculation that it may be released from banned prison during the last round of B&R announcements. I find this funny because Twin essentially has a zero % change of getting unbanned. Here is why: it’s not that Twin oppresses decks like Burn, Tron, Dredge, or Jund. It reduces meta diversity by making it the one and only choice for anyone one looking to play any sort of deck with blue in it. No one would play Merfolk, GDS, Blue Moon, Scapeshift, etc. It just has a better combo, has amazing interaction, better control than UB Control (mental control), and has been said by many pros that it was the best Snapcaster deck ever. We would need Companion meta levels of broken in order for Twin to be safe to unban (and even then I bet Twin would have found a way to benefit from Companions…).

Ethereal Forager up 181% now 4.50$ from 1.60$

Hmm, let’s see: it delves for UU, let’s you Call to Mind whenever it attack, and it flies! Mono U Delver in Legacy was hot and bothered to test this bad boy out.

Wrath of God from 9th Ed. up 118% now 17.49$ from 7.99$

Peculiar considering the other printings are all around 7-8$ each still… So I’m not sure why the 9th Ed. printing in particular got hit so hard a couple weeks ago, there is a million other cheaper printings to choose from?…

Acid Rain from Legends up 80% now 101$ from 55$

Not much in terms of % gains but a 46$ gain is quite a bit considering it’s a narrow color specific hoser. It doesn’t see any serious play but it’s on the Reserved List making it’s price susceptible to price manipulation.

Opposition from Urza’s Destiny up 75% now 12.74$ from 7.25$

I see there was a small bump in price for the white border 7th Ed. printing of the same card but I don’t understand the demand for this card in general.

Blightsteel Colossus from Double Masters up 65% now 58.99$ from 35.65$

Odd, the price of a reprint if anything should be going down but we’ve seen this before in the past when Opt was introduced to Modern people were antsy to get their hot hands on the currently available copies. It looks like when the DM version posted pre-order prices they based it off the Mirrodin price, it being one of the first cards revealed it was allowed more time to drop in price, dipped to 35$, and I’m guessing people realized that was ridiculously low priced for a card that was 90$ two months ago.

And lastly, Mongrel Pack from Tempest up 55% now 4.99$ from 3.20$

Has a single printing from Tempest and is played in Rin and Seri EDH decks after the hound – dog errata.

In other news: Plummeting in price like a mallard in Duck Hunt.

Exploration from Urza’s Saga.

Since July 20th when Exploration was revealed in Double Masters the Urza’s Saga printing has already dropped 15$ from 71$ to 56$. Not bad.

And lastly is Land Tax from Legends down 43% now 40$ from 70$

The 23$ price tag on the current DM printings are taking it toll on the OG printing’s prices.

Welp, that’s all the stock talk for today folks! I was worried that I was being terribly neglectful lately but luckily not a lot has happened since my last post (financially). These recent bans were CRAZY tho! I wish I could say we might see paper Magic tournaments return soon to help shake things up a bit and help drive prices but things aren’t looking good. It might be a while before the US sees Magic GPs and PTs again 🙁 Things were doing so good and it looked like Covid was petering out in the US but then we got a second wave. I was really hoping to have GPs again before the end of the year but it’s not looking like it 😭

Oh well, at least we got Double Masters coming out in a couple of days!

And as always, if you’re in the market for some snazzy new sleeves be sure to cruise on over to the shop and use my discount code MADMAGIC for 15% off on your next purchase.
